Elwood was established by Karl Elwood, who first joined the wine trade nearly 30 years ago.
From humble beginnings as a cellar boy, Karl went on to with two of the industry’s most influential characters – Graham Chidgey of Laytons and John Armit of Armit Wines – and has been inspired by some of the world’s greatest winemakers.
Karl set up elwood in order to provide you with great value wines produced by independent growers from around the world, and to show that paying less doesn’t mean you have to compromise on quality.

"What first captured my imagination – and still continues to be my inspiration – is the personality behind each bottle: the hidden story that goes with each wine I’ve had the pleasure of tasting, selling, and of course drinking.
"The most famous or celebrated winemakers are not exclusively behind the finest wines; there are so many talented, little-known producers who’ve created exciting gems.
"Sadly, the production level from these estates is usually too small for supermarkets to even consider shipping them, meaning very few wine drinkers will get the chance to sample them.
"That’s why I set up elwood. I wanted to offer wine drinkers the chance to buy wines from these little-known estates, and to become part of the fascinating journey from grape to glass.
