What an AMAZING trip! We had a chance to visit one of the most beautiful vineyards in Europe - it was so good, none of us wanted to leave, but sadly our coach was booked and we already kept our driver David waiting for an hour. Besides, Peter and Christina were due to be up at 4am to tend to their vines, animals and other fruit and vegetables.
Our tour of the vineyards, the winery and tasting (presented by the winemaker, Peter Hall), was extremely memorable and I know that all of you want to go back, if not for another tour, to help in the picking season.
The supper was made from seasonal fruit and vegetables grown in the cottage garden. It was so good, most of us went back for seconds. Our special thanks go to Christina and Debbie for preparing our lovely meal.
The Wines

Sparkling Brut 2006 Vintage
"Cuvée John Inglis Hall"
£22 per 75cl bottle or £19.80 for 6 bottles or more
1st release March 2009. Delightful apple freshness and classic Breaky Bottom crispness which is already developing depth and complexity, reflecting the fine summer of 2006. Silver Medal in the 2010 Decanter World Wine Awards and Silver Medal and `Best in Class' at the 2010 International Wine & Spirit Competition.
Kir Royal
£22 per 75cl bottle or £19.80 for 6 bottles or more
Breaky Bottom added this very special sparkling wine to their list in the summer of 2005. At the time of disgorgement they add a measured dosage of their delicious home-grown Cassis to produce a most wonderful pink sparkler, with a fine soft-rose colour and a delicate hint of blackcurrant.
Our wines which accompanied our supper were:
Terres d'Azure Sauvignon Blanc 2009, Vin de Pays, France
£6 per 75cl bottle
Crisp, fresh and zesty - will liven up any palate.
Cotes du Rhone 1er Cote 2007, La Ferme du Mont, Southern Rhone, France
£9 per 75cl bottle
An absolute stunner and offers a very seductive, easy drinking wine and a level of complexity not usually associated with Cote du Rhone.
