    Chateau Larroque 2009, Bordeaux

This 57 hectare vineyard is planted with 63% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The vineyards are managed under the agriculture raisonnée system, which works in harmony with nature and minimises the use of pesticides and interventionist methods.  The wine is fermented in stainless steel vats and then aged for twelve months in 225 litre oak barrels.  After five years in bottle, the 2009 is drinking really well and is cracking value for money.

Medium bodied with a good concentration of red berry fruits on the nose and palate.  The tannins are silky and it is showing some subtle toasted/vanilla notes.  It has aged well in bottle offering a level of complexity one wouldn't normally expect at this level of appellation.
