Mercurey Rouge 1er Cru Les Ruelles 2009, Chateau de Chamirey
Mercurey is the source for some of the best value appellations in Burgundy and in good vintages they can rival the more prestigious appellations of the Côte d'Or.
Run by the Devillard family, Château de Chamirey is situated in the heart of Mercurey's vineyards, covering 37 hectares. The Devillards believe in low yields, 100% destemming, fermentation at a relatively cool temperature and ageing in small oak casks for 12 to fifteen months. The result is a splendid range of wines at great prices.
The 1er Cru Les Ruelles is a monopole of the château and this is a very classy red burgundy with fine, ripe tannins, very rich fruit and a long, satisfying finish. Could easily be a top Côte d'Or wine. Drinking very well now and over the next 3 or 4 years.6 bottles available - request more
