    Chablis 2014, Samuel Billaud

This comes from three different parcels - 25 year old vines in Les Pargues on chalky soil gives bite and acidity, 60 year old vines in Les Cartes sandwiched between the premier crus of Vaillon and Montmains add body and 35 year old vines in Chapelot just below Montée de Tonnerre add class and finesse.  The restult is quintessential Chablis, briming with fruit and vibrancy, showing a lovely generous texture and finishing crisp and long.  Drinking beatifully now and will continue to do so for the next 2 to 3 years.

Samuel Billaud made the wines at the family estate, Domaine Billaud-Simon for twetny years and in 2009 decided to venture out on his own.  Samuel Billaud sources his grapes from rented vineyards, many organically farmed and Samuel's attention to detail and skill as a winemaker has resulted in some of the finest wines of the region.    Furthermore, his prices are way below what you would expect to pay at this quality level, whcich places his wines amongst the best valued too.
