Description

Domaine des Capes is one of a grouping of 80 winegrowers based in the heart of the Vacqueyras appellation, but with vineyards throughout the southern Côtes du Rhône. A number of the estates are farmed organically and the wines are vinified in the modern wineries in Vacqueyras and Beaumes de Venise.

Owned by the Daniel family since 1753, the estate is located in the Dentelles de Montmirail at an altitude of 300 metres. The vineyard has a fine terroir that protects the vines from disease and guarantees pure, natural wine. The Daniel family knows a thing or two about viticulture since they have been growing vines for generations.

A blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah,  fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats to preserve its fruity aromas, followed by 8-10 months ageing in concrete tanks to add aromatic complexity and intensity. Their wine is powerful and generous, and yet still retaining elegance and finesse on the finish.

A classic steak is always going to be a great combination with this Gigondas, but if you want a fabulous side dish, then the celeriac with sage and bacon is a must. Do get in touch if you would like the recipe!
