Bernard Chauvet and his daughter Céline together manage one of Southern Rhone’s great traditional estates. They own 14.5 hectares of vines scattered over 18 different plots. Whilst tradition is a core part of their production, the estate is farmed organically and all the fruit is harvested by hand. The wines are vinified and aged in a mixture of cement vats and traditional oak foudres.
80% Grenache blended with 20% Syrah. This comes from the plateau of Vacqueyras where the grenache and syrah are planted on soil made up of pebbles and clay limestone. 100% destemmed and macerated for 15 days at 32°C before being aged in cement vats for 12 months. Rich and juicy, this has fine freshness and purity of fruit. This youthful wine is just opening up now and will drink well for the next 5 years.
